Senior Aviation Planner

Overview
We are seeking a Senior Airport Planning Consultant to join Ricondo’s team of talented aviation consultants in our London office in the United Kingdom. Ricondo team members are passionate about working alongside airport management to solve the complex issues facing the aviation industry today. Our firm provides strategic planning services to airports across the world, including operational and physical planning, master planning, environmental reviews, and business advisory services. As a Senior Consultant, you will work both independently and in collaboration with our diverse team of aviation professionals. The ideal candidate will have several years of experience performing advanced planning duties in airport facility planning and development, planning of aviation needs and development alternatives. 

Core Responsibilities
  • Supports in the various planning tasks conducted within the office including analysis related to the use, demand and requirements of specific elements at an airport
  • Supports airfield and terminal planning tasks
  • Develops presentation slides based on either the analysis undertaken, or input provided by the task or project manager
  • Assists in developing, formatting, publishing, and distributing tables, charts, manuals and maps that deal with existing and proposed airport planning studies
  • Conducts field surveys, investigations, and collects data in support of airport planning studies
  • Consults with fellow employees and senior staff concerning the compilation, interpretation and presentation of research data for airport planning studies
  • Prepares draft sections of reports and deliverables based on verbal and written inputs from others as well as own efforts
  • Provides advice, technical assistance and written recommendations on airport planning studies.
  • Develops and maintains electronic data sets, files, runs and troubleshoots existing programs
  • Responds to requests for data and information from internal staff and external clients, organizations, various agencies, and the public
  • Performs related work as required
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in degree in Aviation Planning, Aviation Management, or a planning related field
  • 3-5 years of experience of professional planning experience in either airport planning or a planning related field. Planning related fields include Architecture, Civil Engineering, Geography, Statistics, Urban Studies, or Economics
  • Familiarity with the aviation industry or desire to learn and grow in the aviation industry
  • Excellent verbal, interpersonal, and written communications skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
  • Ability to travel occasionally
Additional Preferred Technical Skills
  • Master’s degree in a field that provides a strong foundation for aviation consulting, such as Engineering, Architecture, Planning, Aviation Management, Mathematics, Statistics, Finance, or Economics
  • Working knowledge of best practices, methods, and principles utilized in strategic planning, infrastructure and facilities planning, and operational research for airports
  • Considerable knowledge of computer applications pertaining to planning functions including statistical, spreadsheet, database and graphic programs
Competencies:
  • Considerable knowledge of International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) rules, regulations, and guidelines
  • Considerable knowledge of the general airport facility planning methods, practices, and principles.
  • Considerable knowledge of research techniques, sources of current aviation industry information, and statistical methods
  • Ability to analyze policy and technical issues and to exercise sound judgment in decision making.
  • Ability to effectively manage and supervise assigned professional planners
  • Ability to research, develop, organize and analyze information, and formulate effective recommendations
  • Ability to express ideas and information, clearly and concisely, verbally and in writing
  • Extensive knowledge of analytical techniques and related tools including statistical, spreadsheet, database, simulation and spatial/graphical analysis applications (AutoCAD, REVIT, GIS, etc.)
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relations with supervisors, fellow employees and officials of other agencies
